With Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Vocal Music degrees from Southeastern Louisiana University, Mary Beth McMurray has taught vocal music in high schools and middle schools for 21 years and has been named Teacher of the Year and Choir Director of the Year.
 

McMurray has been involved with the Sweet Adelines local chapter since the age of eight. During her Sweet Adelines career, she was director of the Baton Rouge chorus for 21 years and Director of Music Activities for Region 10 of Texas and Louisiana for five years.
