Visitors From Faraway Lands

Two wonderful ladies visited us at rehearsal one night in April.  They just happened to be visiting our fair city of New Orleans at the same time.  Both are Sweet Adeline members and both looked us up on the website.

Hilary McDermott, is a member of Hearts of Harmony in Red Deer,  Alberta, Canada.  Her husband competed  in the Ochsner Iron Man 70.3 event .  The elite men racers take to the waters of Lake Pontchartrain for a 1.2mile swim, which was followed by 56 miles on a bike and finally a 13.1 mile run.  They stayed in a hotel on Royal street.  They could hear jazz from their hotel room.  One morning they woke up to a trumpet playing at 5AM.

Margaret Brown is a member of Rhapsody UK Chorus, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, UK.  She and her husband are traveling  throughout  the USA.  On their travels they visited other SA choruses.  Because of the European Volcano eruption they were not able to get back to the UK.  They will stay at their uptown B&B for a few more days.

Ladies, it was a pleasure singing with you and getting to know you!!!!!

A letter from Margaret

Hi ladies,
I am just writing to thank you all once again for your hospitality when I visited
your rehearsal last month.  I was delighted to see the photo of myself and fellow
visitor Hilary and the text about our visit on your website.

You might have been wondering when we finally got home to the UK.  We eventually got
a flight out on Saturday 24 April (6 days later than anticipated).  Naturally we
were very relieved to get home, but if it hadn\'t been for the volcanic ash we
wouldn\'t have been able to come along to your rehearsal, so it proved that \'every
(volcanic) cloud has a silver lining\'!

As we were stranded we also got tickets for the first day of Jazz Fest.
Unfortunately it poured with rain the whole day, but we still had a good time.

Last weekend we had our regional competition and Rhapsody did very well, though we
didn\'t win a medal.  We came 4th out of 12 small choruses and 14th out of 27
overall.  Our score was 498, which was our best ever.  We have just started 6 weeks
of singing lessons and have attracted 10 ladies to them, so we are hoping at least a
few of them will stay.

I really enjoyed singing with you all and wish you all the best for your future
shows and competitions.

Yours in harmony

Margaret
